Michael has served the People of Blaine, Ham Lake, Columbus and Lexington as Senator these past 4 years. Serving as Senator for SD32 has been the honor of a lifetime. Prior to this he also served on the Spring Lake Park School Board and the Coon Creek Watershed Board of Managers. 

Michael has also practiced law for over 23 years. He is a gifted attorney focused on real estate litigation and corporate litigation management. He volunteers with the Children’s Law Center of Minnesota, representing children in foster care. His legal expertise has served us well as Senator.

As a new legislator he led with great distinction, being named among the top bipartisan legislators. During his first term more than 25 of his bills became law. Key accomplishments included legislation modernizing the Minnesota Business Corporation Act, and updating the Uniform Commercial Code to accommodate emerging technologies. He also led the senate in unanimously passing bipartisan legislation protecting children from harmful and addictive social media features.

The most critical legislation passed to combat Fraud and hold criminals accountable - was lead by Senator Kreun. He is the primary Republican author of the bill establishing a statewide independent Office of Inspector General.

• ​Voted best by peers as being in the top 2.5% of the Lawyers under 40 in Minnesota 2008-2009 and 2012-2016

• Chair of the Hennepin County Bar Association, Real Property Section 2014-2017

• Co-author of "Notes and Trends" for Bench and Bar of Minnesota magazine 2007-2017

• Tried and argued cases in state and federal district and appellate courts

• Secured over $100 million to fully fund the Highway 65 construction project in Blaine

• Elected by his colleagues to serve as the Assistant Minority Leader of the Minnesota Senate
